Sessions at Guiding Star are always focused on the unique needs of the client, so your session will be exactly what you need. You get to set the goals and the pace for your treatment.
The first session (and possibly the second) is mostly about collecting information.
We need to get a “clinical picture” of your situation, so your clinician will ask about various aspects of your history, what is currently happening, how you have tried to resolve the problem, and what your ideal end result is. Having a clear clinical picture will help keep our work on track.
Yes, we believe finding the right clinician is important. We offer a a free consultation call (approximately 10-15 minutes) to see if we are what you need.
Each of our clinicians has a preferred population that they specialize in. We can work with individuals, families and couples with a variety of concerns.
A typical therapy session is 50-55 minutes. If you or your clinician feel like you need more time, we can schedule a longer session. Since a longer session is more expensive for you, we will only recommend it if there is clear benefit to extra time.
Therapy is unique to the individual, so we can’t say how long you will be in therapy. Our goal is to have you become self-sufficient and not need therapy anymore.
Once your clinician has an understanding of your situation, they can discuss some general time frames for how long treatment will last.
